Hi, I’m Mackenzie.

I first fell in love with the Sierra Nevada a decade ago, and I’ve returned every summer since to wander its trails. Backpacking has deepened my passion for conserving our public lands. I believe the best way to inspire stewardship is through direct experience, and with this blog, I hope to make these places more accessible to all.

My alias “Scout Boot Tracks” came from a silly Instagram name generator for your ranger name and it just stuck!

Most of the stunning landscape shots you’ll see here were taken by my husband, Tanner, whose creative medium of choice is film. Check out his work here.
