Hi, I’m Mackenzie.
I fell for the Sierra Nevada over a decade ago, and I’ve been returning every summer since. Backpacking shaped my love for wild spaces and sparked my commitment to protecting them. I believe the best way to inspire stewardship is by helping more people get outside and experience these places for themselves.
“Scout Boot Tracks” started as a silly ranger-name generator result and just… stuck.
Most landscape photos on this website are shot on film by my husband, Tanner, always chasing good light and unique ridgelines. See his work here.
